DBS launches new podcast to support safer recruitment and safeguarding

10/03/2026

Disclosure and Barring Service has launched a brand new podcast series aimed at helping employers and safeguarding professionals get to grips with DBS processes and responsibilities.

DBS Discussions: Safeguarding in Focus brings together subject matter experts from across the organisation to unpack the questions people regularly ask. Each episode offers practical guidance on key topics such as:

  • DBS check eligibility

  • What counts as regulated activity

  • How the barring process works

  • The role DBS plays in safeguarding

For anyone who has ever found themselves double checking eligibility guidance, debating whether a role meets the regulated activity threshold, or trying to explain the barring process to a trustee, this is well worth a listen.

Who is it for?

The series is particularly useful for:

  • HR and recruitment professionals

  • Safeguarding leads in education, health and social care

  • Voluntary and community sector organisations

  • Trustees and senior leaders with safeguarding oversight

In short, if you are involved in safer recruitment or safeguarding governance, this podcast is designed with you in mind.
