An online Preventing Radicalisation training session is taking place next week for anyone working in a voluntary or community sector organisation.
The free session is being delivered by Essex County Council and has been developed using feedback from previous pilot sessions.
What will the session cover?
The training will include:
- Background – an overview of CONTEST, the Prevent Duty, terrorism legislation and the current national picture
- Ideologies – what is meant by an extremist ideology, antisemitism and an overview of a range of extremist and emerging ideologies
- Understanding Radicalisation – the four stages of radicalisation, influencing factors, what to look out for, online radicalisation, the ‘notice, check, share’ procedure and what happens when someone is referred to Prevent
- ACT Early – an introduction to ACT Early, the support available, how it can assist you and the appropriate ways to make contact
